Comparative analysis of fibreoptic bronchoscope aided cytohistological techniques in diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions of lung

Background: Morbidity and mortality from chronic lung diseases are increasing worldwide. A combination of various cytological histopathological techniques required for the high diagnostic accuracy. This study aims to evaluate compare accuracy fiberoptic bronchoscope aided cytohistological such as BAL (bronchoalveolar lavage), TBNA (Transbronchoscopic needle aspiration) FB (forceps biopsy) in lung. Method: prospective conducted on 100 patients with symptoms signs respiratory who underwent fibreoptic bronchoscopy. Diagnostic samples alone were analysed. Results: Sensitivity BAL-24%, 64% 66%. Addition increased sensitivity 69%. 70%. methods (FB TBNA) 90%. both overall senstivity 93%. most specific amongst three specificity 94% followed by (59.4%) (50%). Conclusions: There variable results regarding yields utilities fibre-optic but there adds yields. Thus a should be taken patient undergoing bronchoscopic examination increase yield, cut short time early start treatment.
